The Oregonian Editorial Board, which has called for mayor Sam Adams to resign, reviewed Adams' appearance before the Portland City Club on Friday Feb. 27 (http://www.oregonlive.com/opinion/index.ssf/2009/02/the_unpleasantness_at_the_city.html) causing readers to reflect upon these institutions.

The City Club of Portland and the Oregonian Editorial Board have both refused to tackle the issue of which model is best to solve Oregon's moral and economic health care crisis. The choices are starkly contrasting. The Oregon Community Health Care Bill and similar single payer type solutions (supported by an overwhelming majority of Oregonians and Americans) as opposed to the current model which is ferociously defended by the despised, failed, for-profit private health insurance industry.

The City Club of Portland and the Oregonian Editorial Board have both refused to tackle the issue of Equitable Distribution of Public Housing versus the discredited and abhorrent current public policy of UNLIMITED neighborhood concentration of Public Housing, a deplorable policy of economic segregation leading to the development of low-income ghetto building.

So the question arises, which is the greater sin, Sam Adams' peccadillo with a citizen who can vote and serve in the armed forces or the City Club of Portland and the Oregonian Editorial Board and their refusals to place on the public table essential public health care and public housing policy issues which are vital to our community?
